Stabilizing A Raised Foundation In San Diego

Table of Contents

Customer: Kaare K.

Location: San Diego, CA

Project Consultant: Joe Harris

Project Manager: Isaac Stern

Why did the customer contact Dalinghaus Construction?

Kaare called us because he had a home inspection completed on his San Diego home because he wanted to have everything checked before he started a kitchen remodel he was planning. The inspector determined he needed a licensed foundation contractor out to inspect the foundation before he moved forward with doing any upgrades to the home.

What solutions did Dalinghaus Construction provide?

Project Consultant, Joe Harris was assigned to this project. He met Kaare at the home, and completed a foundation inspection of his raised foundation This involves doing elevation readings with a ziplevel altimeter inside the home, and a visual inspection under the home. Joe’s readings revealed half of the home was sinking. The lowest corner in the home was reading 1.8 inches low. Joe presented his findings to Kaare, and he constructed a repair plan that consisted of placing 5 Push Piers to stabilize the affected corner, as well as 2 Crawlspace Jacks to level the floor, and concrete replacement at the pier locations.

Project Manager Issac Stern and his crew carried out the work at Kaare’s home. They began removing the outdoor tile at the pier locations. They then excavated all 5 sites, prepped the footers, and installed each Push Pier bracket. Once the brackets were installed, the pier sections were hydraulically driven to reach load-bearing strata, locked into place, and the excavated soils were backfilled at the pier locations. Next, the Crawlspace Jacks were put in place to repair the sagging, squeaking floor. Finally, concrete was poured to replaced where it had been removed.
