GET ME OUT OF HERE!!
Whenever I come across someone or if I see a couple of people that are talking, I am fascinated at how people interact and communicate.  From the body language to the hand gestures, to just the over all “vibe” you get.  Come one now, we’ve all rolled up into that one (or in my case many) conversations between a couple of people and quickly realize that we don’t want to be here!!
Communication with another person can be extremely rewarding or it can be a complete nightmare.
One thing that we actually work on as a company, is how to communicate effectively with someone.  There are many things that go into actually having an effective conversation or discussion with another person or group of people. I mean, just from my experience, I want to talk with someone the “speaks my language”.  When someone doesn’t communicate with you in the way that you are accustomed to, the conversation just feels odd and to be honest we start thinking of ways to get this conversation over rather than listening to what the other person(s) are saying.
The same can be said with foundation inspections.
You want someone that is going to have a conversation with you the way that you are used to communicating.  I have heard horror stories of inspectors, not just foundation repair, that have come to the house and only want to ramble on about how long the company has been in business, how much training they have had, or how great their product is.  All I care about is that you are going to say what you say you’re going to do, when you say you’re going to do it.  But hey, that’s just me.  I know other people that love to hear anything and every thing about how something is going to be fixed and the process and the entire backstory of everything that this person can regurgitate about themselves and company.   There is no right or wrong way to want things to be explained to you, we all digest information differently and all want to know certain things prior to making a decision about something or someone.
The other thing that you have to be aware of when you are communicating is just how truthful is the person being with me with what is actually going on with my home.  If they are not presenting facts or able to describe things into a way that you understand, more than likely they are just filling you full of useless, sometimes not accurate, information.  We’ll be the first to tell you if we don’t know something or that if we find something that doesn’t make sense or that we may not have the answer(s) to.  But the good thing is, we more often than not, know who to go to to get the correct answer(s).  That is the key, getting the correct answer(s) and not just perceived correct answer(s).  We’ve been doing foundation repair for a long time, and yes, there are things that we still have to consult with someone else to get the correct answer(s).  It may be someone within or company, or typically, it is an engineer(s) that we have a trusting relationship with.  Either way, we want to make sure you are as informed as possible with the correct answer and solution to your home’s foundation.
So the next time that you are having a conversation with a foundation inspector, think about what they are really saying to you.  Are they just trying to skirt around the facts and tell you a bunch of meaningless information, or are they presenting what is actually going on with your home in a manner in which you are effectively understanding.   The last thing you want to do is to spend your valuable time with someone and get nothing out of it or feel like it was a waste.  Ain’t nobody go time for that! ;)
